5 Netflix And Chill Gimmicks This Love Month

The Love month is just around the corner and what better way to spend it than having a “Netflix and Chill” night with your special someone.

For everyone who has no idea what “Netfilx and Chill” means, it’s the internet generation’s version of “Do you want to come over and watch a movie?” or simply today’s euphemism (or meme) for “hooking up.”

The slang term dates back to 2007 but it only became part of mainstream vocabulary recently because, yes, the internet did it again. Countless memes, Vines, and other hilarious posts went viral and the term “Netflix and Chill” was never the same again. For those looking to just “Netflix and Chill” this Valentine’s Day, here are five gimmicks sure to step up your N & C game.

Rent the “Netflix and Chill” Airbnb room in New York

Airbnb has brought the “Netflix and Chill” meme to life with an apartment in New York City especially devoted to the “internet’s favorite pastime.” For $400 you and your special someone can enjoy the one-of-a-kind Netflix and Chill bed, a fully-loaded bar, an awesome roof top view, and of course, unlimited streaming of your Netflix favorites.

Dress up!

It is “Netflix and chill night, so why not dress up as your favorite movie or TV character and just have fun with it!

Advertisement Try Barney Stinson’s “naked guy” move

Maybe you’d want to do the “chilling” first before the Netflix. You could try one of Barney Stinson’s Playbook tips from How I Met Your Mother – “The Naked Guy.” As recalled, it’s not an original Barney move but he genuinely thought it was “legen… wait for it… dary!” and so it ended up in his infamous Playbook along with his other bizarre tactics.

Go somewhere else

Tired of staying in your couch at home? Take your “Netflix and chill night” somewhere new like the beach where you can go for a night picnic or even camp out and set up a bonfire for the ultimate chill night.

Just watch Netflix and actually CHILL

Even with “Netflix and Chill” getting a whole new meaning because of the internet and all, there are some people who still do want to just watch Netflix and actually chill – popcorn or pizza in hand, boyfriend/girlfriend’s hand in the other, and just cuddle away while watching your favorite flicks on a quiet weekend night. Check out the list of what’s new on Netflix this Feb!

25 Romantic Ideas for Valentine's Day Part 1

Part 1 of 4

Valentine’s day is just around the corner. When you think about it, it’s only 12 days before the special event. Are you prepared to spend that special day with someone? What are your preparations?

To love or to be loved? That is the question. We seem to be too obsessed with Valentine’s day that we tend to forget that we could love our special someone everyday, regardless of the date on the calendar.

Valentine’s Day might be special and we have some very creative ideas you can use to make your partner feel loved and cared for. Take note: Some of the ideas presented here can be used even on the other days of the year.

Here are 25 great ways to tell your special someone, “I love you.”

1. Build a celebratory fire. You can simply host your own picnic. You can celebrate indoors using the furnace or outdoors by building a small camp fire. Don’t forget the champagne and strawberries covered with chocolate.

2. Make a small book about why you love your partner and why you are thankful for him/her. It’s a bit too much, but If you’ve got the time for it, why not. It might be one the best gifts he/she will ever get. And it will help you focus on the things you love about your special partner and not his or her shortcomings.

3. Make a memory jar with your partner. Every time you and your partner create some good memories, write it in a piece of paper and put it in the jar. You could also reminisce about the past and write your favorite memory of each other. Be very specific, and try to record as much about the event as you can remember. Put them into a jar or wooden box. Open them on Valentine’s day or every time you argue and read them. You will be surprised how many great memories you and your partner have. It’s sweet too, and a little bit on the cute side.

The time you will be spending reminiscing and recording these memories will help your own romantic mood, and what your partner might think is a plain old box of chocolates will instead be a treasured gift for future years. Not only that, you can add memories to the box for every birthday, holiday, or Valentine’s Day celebration in the future.

4. Remember and recreate your first date as a couple. Do you remember what you were wearing? Where did you take him/her out? Do you remember what your conversations were about? Spend the evening reminiscing your first date and reflecting on how far and what you have achieved as a couple.

5. Spoon and Cuddle. Simple yet very effective. Nothing beats a warm hug from someone you love.

7.  On small pieces of paper, write down every type of kiss that you can come up with. Then put it in a cute red bag and give it as a gift to your spouse. Have your spouse grab several pieces of paper from the bag, and then kiss your sweetheart with whatever kind of kiss he/she picked.

8. Collect the songs special to your relationship and put it in a CD. Include your “special song”. This might be songs from your wedding, songs from favorite movies, or songs from your first dance. Add a short personal voice dedication and leave it in his/her bag, briefcase, CD player, or car stereo. However, be sure to be there when he/she finds it.

10 Cheap yet Awesome Valentine's Day Date Ideas

In case you haven’t noticed, love is in the air and boy you have to plan ahead. Valentine’s day is just around the corner and your girlfriend is excited to know what you have in store.

However, there might be the occasional “it’s Valentine’s day and oh my God, I’m totally broke” scenario. We might not wish to be cheap on Valentine’s date but sometimes it’s just Valentine’s day or what’s left on our wallet.

Valentine’s date night ideas don’t have to be fancy or expensive. It’s a day where you express your love without totally burning a hole in your pocket. A great movie would be nice, but are you sure you want to fight your way through hordes of other couples in the movie theatre? Not only would it be very inconvenient, but having seats at the far edge of the theatre will totally ruin the movie for you. If you want something lovely (and cheap) at the same time, we’ve got some ideas that might totally work for you.

Fancy Inexpensive dinner: A good way to lighten up the mood and move the relationship to the next level is by inviting her to dinner. Although, you might be one of the 62 percent of men who think it’s just a Hallmark holiday, 55 percent of the women’s population disagree. Invite her to for dinner and mix up some Valentine’s Day cocktails, and if it goes well, suggest a sleepover at home. Please make sure you prepared some wine and roses! Or get her something from an array of unique but not too expensive Valentine’s Day gifts.Netflix Date: Is your favorite Saturday activity catching up on your favorite shows with your loved one? Order some takeout from your favorite restaurant and try to finish a new TV series in one night. You might have to stay up late or until morning, but that’s part of the fun! Order some cheeseburgers, Mexican food, pizza, or any other food you both love. You can also get some cake or some donuts from your favorite bakery or your favorite ice cream flavor from the grocery store. You’ll spend the whole night eating and cuddling. Who doesn’t want great food and some cuddles?

Is DOTA Ruining Your Relationships? Part I

Did you ever text your lover and get a reply an hour after? Were your calls rejected or left unanswered? And when they probably answer your call, say after 50 attempts, all you hear are people screaming and trash-talking and you need to talk at the top of your voice just to be heard? Do your partners keep a long list of things they ought to do every time you invite them out to something? Then they are probably on their next DOTA session.

DOTA has become the Great Wall of China between most couples, drawing a bold line between once inseparable lovers. Before, not a day goes by without them seeing each other, but after DOTA, once a week or even every other week is fair enough. DOTA, for non-playing partners, is where the lying and making of excuses begin; of cancelling, moving, or forgetting pre-scheduled dates, or worst, anniversaries; of spending less time with each other; and even of arguing about expenses.

The Dark Side of DOTA and Computer Games

Why are DOTA and other computer games addicting in the first place? While computer games have been widely known as child’s play, many adults are still getting hooked on it. Since games came into being, a lot of people have embraced its fun and thrill, as it makes them totally in control of their characters. However, through time, these games have gotten out of hand and sometimes end up putting families, jobs, friends, and even relationships as second choices. It makes them feel ignored and abandoned.

“My bf has been addicted to for 10 months… He will play at least 15 hours every single day, usually til about 5 am. He blows off what few temp jobs are offered to him and will not go to job interviews and insists he is not addicted. His relationships on the game are more important than me. It hurts me to realize this… I just want the guy i fell in love with back!” said one frustrated girlfriend on her an online forum.

“It was lonely. It was real lonely. And it felt like I was like a widow. That I had lost my other half and just, I felt alone all the time,” said Janet Hunt, whose husband suffers from computer games addiction.

According to Ryan Van Cleave, author of the book Unplugged that tackles about video game addiction, he revealed that there is an increasing number of adults falling into computer game addiction. In fact, in Pennsylvania, six children were taken into custody after their step-father was too consumed with computer games their house was filled with filth and animal waste.

“They’re killing careers, they’re killing families, they’re killing relationships, they’re killing health, and literally now we’re having people killing others and themselves over videogames,” said Van Cleave.

20 Things that are Surely to Happen on Valentine's Day

Are you already part of the Valentine’s fever? Some people are just too overly excited about this holiday. Many couples are already planning their getaways and their well-earned dates that only happen once a year. Men are already busy buying their chocolates, clothes, engagement rings, stuffed animals and more expensive stuff they only bother buying once every year. Meanwhile, women are busy making themselves look pretty and desirable. Again, they only bother looking their best once in a year for their husbands or boyfriends (or maybe everyday for some, but that’s not the point).

Why do we even bother? We can show our love every day of the year. Anyway, there will be some mishaps or some bitterness from our single brethren, and we can’t avoid some very awkward scenarios when both parties show up in the same establishment or the same spot.  There are some things that always occur on Love Day and we are going to enumerate some of them right here. Screw ups or normal occurrences? You decide.

Is DOTA Ruining Your Relationships? Part II

Some avid DOTA fans say that the feeling of not being able to play DOTA is just like getting off substance abuse. For instance, they become antsy and easily irritated. It is as if their day is not complete without touching their keyboards, trash-talking other players, defeating other bases, playing their characters, or obtaining those important special items. They say they are totally obsessed with it, which means they think about it probably the whole day long.

Why DOTA is addicting

Several reveal that despite its plain, simple surface and even if the team and terrain remain the same, DOTA‘s 60, and probably now 100, characters make the each game unique. Each character, which they call “heroes,” basically possess different strengths and weaknesses, which when played well can become an advantage and a liability if not. Throughout the game, every character levels up, gradually acquiring skills and powers.

Aside from that, they also get to play with other “human” opponents and not just computers. So basically winning the game means outplaying several others. This is where the trash-talking and bragging rights begin, according to few.

When players lose, they immediately want to exact revenge and let their opponents taste how it is to lose. If and when they win, they can’t have enough victory streaming through their veins. This is probably why it is an uphill battle for every player to click the red button and quit the game. It gives them (sort of) a sense of pride, telling themselves this is what they are good at and that is what they need to master.

Other players who are still learning the game claim they spend some time searching through the DOTA forums. They love to browse and look for some tips and advices from other pro players. While others reveal that just like in school, they study every character, to help them become better players.

Advertisement What Partners Should Do

However, letting players ditch their childish games to become “mature” is not mature at all. People have that childishness sometimes.

A combination of understanding and balance is key to a healthy relationship; it should not be just all about you and not just all about DOTA. You can also encourage other forms of social activities. Some DOTA players claim that instead of becoming their greatest obstacle to a hobby they love, partners can be assume supportive roles, suggesting they are welcome to play with them or even just discover the game for themselves. When partners feel that the game already crossed the line, you can always ask for a timeout to his game and discuss the matter subtly.  “The number one thing to do is not confront them while they’re playing the game,” said one computer game addict who has undergone therapy. “A calm, clear conversation with them at a moment when they’re not gaming is a great way to start things moving in the right direction.”

Remember: A few reminder surely wouldn’t hurt, and a good partner always assess themselves once confronted with an issue.
