PlayStation Plus February Lineup Doesn't include Crypt of the Necrodancer

Sony has not officially announced the PlayStation Plus free games for February, but it hasn’t stopped PlayStation fans from finding out which games will be included in next month’s PS Plus free games lineup. Fans have been expecting two games, “Crypt of the Necrodancer” and “Not a Hero,” to be the next additions in the next PlayStation Plus lineup releasing on Feb. 2. However, the developer has confirmed that “Crypt of the Necrodancer” is not coming as a free title for PS Plus.

In a conversation with a fan on Twitter, the developer has confirmed  that “Crypt of The Necrodancer” is coming on Feb. 2 for PlayStation 4 and PS Vita, the same date that the February PS Plus free games games lineup will be released. However, the developer clarified that “Crypt of The Necrodancer” is not included in the free games and will have to be purchased for the PS4 and PS Vita.

A report from Product Reviews suggests that Sony could be looking for a AAA title for the PS Plus lineup for February, or they might have decided on all the titles for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita already. It can be recalled that Sony’s January PS Plus free games lineup surprised players with titles such as “Medal of Honor: Warfighter,” “Hardware: Rivals,” “Dragon Age: Origins,” “Grim Fandango” and Nihilumbra.

“Crypt of the NecroDancer” is an award-winning hardcore game from independent developer Brace Yourself Games. It is a roguelike dungeon exploration where players need to move as the music plays. Players can also choose tracks from their own music collection. The game is already available for PC.

Meanwhile, the other game, “Not A Hero,” is a tactical shooter by indie developer Rolling Media. The game is also available for PC.

Sony VR May Not Be As Good As Oculus Rift

Bursting into 2016, virtual reality is all set to launch as Sony VR and Oculus Rift are both scheduled to be released. All that’s left is to pit each off against the other as which is better in quality, price and availability, and compatibility to consoles versus PCs for Sony VR and Oculus Rift respectively. Both devices are set to turn the virtual reality scene on its ears, but we compare the specs to see which will win the battle for virtual reality supremacy.

In the first place, Sony VR will work with the PlayStation 4, while Oculus Rift will need a high-end PC. “If you just talk about the high-end quality, yes, I would admit that Oculus may have better VR,” Sony Computer Entertainment vice president Masayasu Ito said in an interview with Polygon. “However, it requires a very expensive and very fast PC. The biggest advantage for Sony is our headset works with PS4. It’s more for everyday use, so it has to be easy to use and it has to be affordable. This is not for the person who uses a high-end PC. It’s for the mass market.” The resolution for Sony’s headset is also lower than that of its competitor’s.

Last January 6, the Rift’s price was finally announced at $599, given that there is already a powerful enough PC available. If not, buying a new high-end PC or upgrading the on hand will be a must.

On the other hand, as the release date for Sony’s VR is still not known, the price is also unknown but is estimated to be lower than its Rift counterpart. And Sony’s headset only needs the PS4, of which around 36 million have already been sold worldwide.

So counting on the fact that both sides still need consoles, Sony’s VR will cost an extra $350 on top of the headset, while a Rift-compatible PC will cost around $900 in addition the aforementioned price of the headset.

Therein is given that the quality and price and availability of the headsets are tied to their respective consoles. To consider one is to consider the other.

But given all the details mentioned, there is only one question that’s important: Which is better for you?
