Are Walgreens And Rite Aid Open On Christmas Day 2016? Sunday's Pharmacy Store Hours And Merger Update

Many people are wondering if various stores including Walgreens and Rite Aid are open on Christmas Day 2016? The two pharmacy stores are going to be merging soon, but there will be plenty of customers who might need to get out to the stores in their areas. It could mean picking up last minute gifts or items to make the Christmas Day holiday more special. Here’s the latest information on both of these stores and their latest hours for Sunday, as well as some information about changes that will be coming to Rite Aid stores shortly. The first Rite Aid opened back in 1962 in Scranton, Pennsylvania. Years later there are hundreds upon hundreds of the drug stores located around the nation. In 2015, it was announced that Walgreens would be purchasing the chain in a major buyout deal. However, there’s been some snags in the deal, and the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is now involved. As the New York Post reported on December 23, if the merger deal is able to go through, it will make Walgreens-Rite Aid the biggest chain of pharmacies in the nation, surpassing CVS. In addition to Walgreens buying Rite Aid, just a few days ago the Chicago Tribune reported that Fred’s drugstore chain from Memphis, Tennessee, would be purchasing 865 Rite Aid stores for $950 million. That helps Rite Aid in a major way as they try to complete the $9.4 billion buyout deal from Walgreens. It certainly helped Fred’s stock soar upon the news as it will more than double their current number of stores. There are currently 650 Fred’s stores around the country. Most Fred’s pharmacies are closed on Sunday, but it’s best to call the local store to double check. Shoppers may be picking up last minute gifts at Rite Aid on Christmas Day. Target Black Friday 2016 Ad Posted — 40 Pages of Deals On Televisions, Video Games, Clothing, And More

Black Friday 2016 is scheduled for November 25 this year, and there has been a lack of leaks from the major stores so far. That has all changed tonight, as the 40-page Target Black Friday 2016 Ad has been posted on BestBlackFriday.com. Disclaimer: The author, Phillip Dengler, is the owner of BestBlackFriday.com, which is referenced in this article. The Inquisitr holds no ownership. Target’s Opening Time Target started their Black Friday sale at 6 p.m. on Thanksgiving last year. While they are probably going to have a similar start time for 2016, the hours are absent from the ad. They will probably announce their hours over the next week or so, but you may have to call your local store for an official confirmation. Select doorbusters will carry over into Black Friday, but the top ones will only be available in limited quantities. Early Access Sale (Nov. 10 Only) Black Friday is still two weeks away, but they are holding an early access sale on Thursday, November 10. These deals appear on pages 2-5, and they are available online and at traditional brick-and-mortar locations. In order to be eligible for this sale, you must have Target’s Cartwheel app on your phone, which you can find at Target.com. Here are a few notable deals for tomorrow’s sale. Jetson V6 Hoverboard with Bluetooth Speakers for for $399.99 (save $115) LED Indoor/Outdoor Projector for $15 (save $4.99) Multiple Xbox One S and PS4 Games for $35 All LEGO Dimensions and Skylanders Imaginations Starter Packs for $39.99 Save up to $50 on Select Toys All Apple TV Models for 25 percent off RCA Portable DVD Player for $53.99 (save $36) Beats Solo Wireless Headphones for $119.99 (save $180) Target Black Friday 2016 Ad Important Information and Review [Image via Target] As seen on the first page, Target’s featured deal is the Hisense 50-inch Smart Ultra 4K HD TV. Since there is no model listed, it is impossible to know the retail price on this unit. In all probability, Target will not even announce the model until Thanksgiving. Regardless, this is a solid price for a 50-inch 4K TV. While Hisense is not exactly a premier brand, the price makes it worth it for the average viewer. For comparison purposes, Kohl’s is offering a Haier 49-inch 4K Ultra HD TV for $249.99, which is a savings of $100, as seen on their 2016 Black Friday ad posted at Savings.com. Besides the 1-inch difference, Kohl’s is also including Kohl’s Cash valued at $75 with the purpose. If you are willing to sacrifice the single inch, you are probably better off going with the deal at Kohl’s. [Featured Image by David Ramos/Getty Images]

Cyber Monday Deals Week At Amazon Continues: You Can Save 70 Percent And More This Holiday Shopping Season

Black Friday and Cyber Monday may officially be over, but that doesn’t mean Amazon has stopped the sales. Amazon extended Cyber Monday for a week and continues to bring huge savings and deals to holiday shoppers. You can save 70 percent and more on the site through many time-sensitive deals. Amazon is releasing new deals every 5 minutes and even has a holiday shopping, deals app for savvy consumers who don’t want to miss their chance to save big. There are several ways to find the best Cyber Monday deals this week, and these include navigating various categories on the site. Once you know how to track down the deals with the greatest savings, you’ll find that accessing the best deals isn’t as difficult as it might seem. If you don’t have time to navigate the entire Amazon site, you might find that downloading the free deals app is the best way to save both time and money. Amazon’s Cyber Monday deals week differs from other retailers, as it isn’t just a conglomeration of various items marked down in one new category. Amazon offers sales and deals on a continual basis in every category on their site. Additionally, they have time-sensitive deals on a regular basis. These include Amazon’s daily deals, gold box deals, and lightning deals. Every major sale such as Black Friday, Cyber Monday, Countdown to Christmas, New Year’s, etc. will include the basic deals such as gold box, lightning, and daily deals in addition to other specials. As Amazon is both its own retailer and an outlet for other retailers to sell their wares, deals are vast and varied. Prime members enjoy additional benefits such as free two-day shipping on Prime items, and this can be a huge benefit for holiday shoppers. Prime members also get early access to select daily deals, gold box deals, and lightning deals. Amazon's Gold Box deals are here for the holidays!https://t.co/msmVPAtpor pic.twitter.com/btfjNgWoW0 — Mary Turner (@thesaleswhopper) November 30, 2016 When first accessing the Cyber Monday deals week page, you’ll find products from the daily deals, lightning deals, and gold box deals. These items are often discounted at a great price but are time sensitive. You’ll be able to see how long you have until the deal expires on each item’s description. When you browse towards the bottom of the page, you’ll find more options for searching deals, as well as more time-sensitive deals featured. The left side of the page is where you can set options for finding the best deals. There are two ways to approach this. You may look for deals based on type and features according to the options on the Cyber Monday deals week, or you can go to an Amazon department page, look at the top of the page and choose sales and deals. Both options will bring you to the same choices and items for sale. If you go through one of the sales and deals link on an Amazon department page, you’ll find the same type of options as found on the Cyber Monday deals week to the left. One of these options includes setting the amount of discount you’d like to apply to the sale. Choices include finding deals that are 10 percent off and more, 25 percent off and more, 50 percent off and more and 70 percent off and more. Those who want to save the most on their holiday shopping should choose deals that are 70 percent off and more. Try going to the watches section and choosing 70 percent off. You’ll be amazed that you can save hundreds and even thousands on top, designer name brands this Christmas. Keep in mind, not every Amazon department has current sales that are 70 percent of and more, as Amazon sales come and go quickly. If you check regularly or use the deals app, you’re certain to find them. You can find current Cyber Monday deals at 70 percent off here. Amazon presents Oprah's Favorite Things. Each year #Oprah recommends great items! https://t.co/Vohbi2IooN #sales #deals #holiday #christmas pic.twitter.com/jcJCZZ4kaV — Mary Turner (@thesaleswhopper) November 4, 2016 Cyber Monday deals week is a great time for holiday savings, and as more retailers offer online sales, it’s possible that holiday shopping trends will change. Though Black Friday continued to draw large crowds to stores, there are many people who feel it is inappropriate to spend Thanksgiving camped out in front of a brick and mortar store to buy items. Some protest by waiting a week or two for their holiday shopping and others choose not to take advantage of in-store deals, sales and doorbusters entirely. Online Black Friday sales and Cyber Monday deals offer solutions to those shoppers conflicted between spending time with family in the traditional setting and racing to a store as soon as the doors open. When retailers like Walmart and Amazon extend their online Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals, the response is great. Last year, Amazon ran Christmas sales until the day of Christmas and immediately followed with deep discounts for their after holiday sales. If these trends continue, brick and mortar shopping for the holidays may become a thing of the past. With Amazon’s Cyber Monday deals week, more people can shop from the comfort of their own home and still scoop up the best holiday deals. [Featured Image by Wright Studio/Shutterstock]

Hastings Entertainment: Texas-Based Comic Book Chain Closing All Stores By October 2016

Hastings Entertainment Stores, which is a chain that has largely been popular because of its comic book merchandise, will be liquidating and closing all of its stores around the country by October 31 this year. About a month ago, it was announced that the Texas-based Hastings had filed Chapter 11 Bankruptcy and said that unless the company was bought or a major investor came in that it would have to downsize its corporate office and/or close down the entire Hastings chain. Apparently the entire Hastings chain will be closed down, according to an article by the Amarillo Globe. JUST IN: Hastings Entertainment will close all of its stores by October 31, 2016 https://t.co/1izqsChClG pic.twitter.com/Arhp3oSxxx — KLTV 7 (@KLTV7) July 21, 2016 The company issued an open letter on their website in June, that announced they were filing Chapter 11 bankruptcy along with their “corporate parent” (Draw Another Circle) and “sister brands” (Movie Stop and SPImages) but that stores would remain open. They also announced that they would no longer accept or honor future movie deposits and that existing deposits would only apply toward in-store purchases. The announcement also said that game rentals would no longer be available. Gift cards were also no longer available and any gift cards would expire on July 13. The Hastings buyback program, which allowed customers to return books and movies for cash, was also suspended. The Passport program, according to the website, remains unaffected and the company said all Passport benefits would remain intact and they would continue to launch promotions on an ongoing basis. Proceeds of the sales will go to Bank of America and Pathlight Capital, who both provided capital to Hastings during the bankruptcy proceedings. The article said that Hilco Merchant Resources LLC and Gordon Brothers Retail Partners LLC, which are both financial consultant and management companies, bought the company in a contractual joint venture. But instead of saving Hastings, the company will have to pay off their debts that total $139 million, according to the Wall Street Journal. The sale is expected to net only $106 million to $114 million, according to the courts. Creditors will receive 75 percent of the sales. If the sale exceeds the expected amount, the joint venture will receive an up-front fee of 6.5 percent on the excess, and any remaining amount will be divided equally between the venture and Hasting’s parent company, Draw Another Circle. The agreement means that about 3,850 people, including 1,200 in Texas, will lose their jobs by October 31, 2016. The court documents in the bankruptcy requires the company to give a seven-day notice to employees before they are terminated during the liquidation process, so some could lose their jobs before October. An employee in Amarillo, who was not identified, said that there was “a feeling of limbo for employees at the store,” and that rumors of bidders coming to the rescue and imminent liquidation had been circulating. The employee said, “As far as I’m concerned, it’s business as usual tomorrow.” Hastings To Close Its 126 Stores, Sell Everything At Knockdown Prices And Fire All Staff https://t.co/KxcSE9S1s1 — Comics Unlimited (@Comics_Un) July 21, 2016 Customers in Amarillo reacted with mixed emotions when asked about the company’s closing. Alex Hernandez, 21, said that the news was unfortunate. “From what I’ve read, Hastings had a really big start here in Amarillo, and I think when it comes down to it, it’s hard to see companies go but that’s kind of how life is sometimes.” Hernandez said that he bought comic books and vinyl records at Hastings and it would be hard to find them in stores after Hastings closes. “It’s a very niche store. Now that it’s not around, it’s going to be hard to find other options.” @TheMysteryofGF If you ever see a @goHastings entertainment store, go inside and look around ✨ pic.twitter.com/ItQPmmb78Z — Becky (@BecksterCorgiMT) July 8, 2016 Another Amarillo Hastings customer, Taylor Martin, 23, was disappointed, but not surprised by the outcome of the bankruptcy proceedings. “We don’t buy a lot here but it’s nice to browse; you can do it on the internet but it’s not the same. A lot of people know there’s better deals on the internet so they buy on Amazon instead of in the store. And I do that too. I see a book that’s $14 and I know I can get it used on Amazon for like a penny.” Are you surprised by the comic-book chain’s closing or do you think Hastings should be saved? Please comment below. Black Friday 2016 is almost here, and shoppers looking to find the best deals on electronics and video games from places like Target, Best Buy, and Walmart may find it a bit difficult to navigate through all the ads. Walmart After-Christmas Sale 2016: Store Offering Deep Price Cuts On Electronics, Kitchen Items The Week After Christmas

Walmart won’t be missing a beat this holiday season, offering some big after-Christmas 2016 sales on things like electronics and toys to attract shoppers looking to cash in their gift cards. With the holiday shopping season creeping earlier and earlier into the calendar, shoppers are understandably fatigued by the time Christmas finally arrives. But retailers are trying to counter that by offering more and more attractive after-Christmas sales, and in 2016 Walmart is one of the ones leading the way. As the retail site BFreedom noted, Walmart’s after-Christmas sale for 2016 offers a mix of electronics and gift items like books and DVDs, along with the holiday decor they’re trying to move off the shelves as quickly as possible. “HDTVs, laptops, tablets, cameras, and video game consoles will be among the biggest sellers (and discounters) at the Walmart 2017 After Christmas sale. You can also find great deals on Christmas decorations and decor, kitchen items, toys, clothes, books, DVDs, and a whole lot more. The end of year sale at Walmart is designed to get rid of as much inventory as possible, which is great for shoppers. You can already see After Christmas 2017 deals at Walmart.com, and there will be even more added each day until New Years.” Shopping experts offer some tips for after-Christmas sales, including which items offer the best deals and which to avoid. Melissa Martin of BlackFriday.com told SILive.com that retailers will be eager to clear the shelves of old clothes styles, so shoppers can expect big discounts there. Toys and electronics that didn’t end up selling well with Christmas shoppers will also be on sale, and DealNews.com noted that cameras have some of the best deals after Christmas. There are some other areas to avoid for after-Christmas 2016 sales. The National Retail Federation warned that flat-screen televisions will actually see deeper price cuts around the end of January, just in time for people looking to upgrade for the Super Bowl. And luxury brands generally don’t have many great deals after Christmas. Walmart discounts thousands of items as part of its clearance sale. You can get the Ozark Trail 12-oz. Vacuum… https://t.co/4sDpoIglVY — MyDFWMommy (@mydallasmommy) December 24, 2016 Beyond its own after-Christmas 2016 sale, Walmart is also debuting a program aimed at bringing in even more revenue and give shoppers a chance to earn more savings. The retail giant offered a new feature for its existing savings account, the re-loadable MoneyCard offered on sale at Walmart locations. As MarketWatch noted, the program looks to reward customers for filling more money into these cards. Last week, Wal-Mart debuted a new feature for its existing savings accounts: for every dollar consumers save, they will be entered into a sweepstakes for cash prizes. The company hopes that with the promise of a prize, consumers will begin to put more money away instead of spending it. The number of entries is determined by the average amount of money in the account that month. Consumers can win one of 500 cash prizes every month; the grand prize is $1,000, and the other prizes are $25 each, according to Walmart. (The prizes are subject to tax.) While the program to entice people into stocking their money may be a bit different than an after-Christmas sale aimed at getting them to spend money, Walmart has taken a bit more effort into earning goodwill both among shoppers and employees. This year the retailer announced that it would be closing at 6 p.m. on Christmas Eve — two hours earlier than previous years — so employees can spend more time with their families on the holiday. Columbus Day 2016: Is Costco Or Sam's Open? Latest Store Hours And Thanksgiving Closing Update

With Columbus Day 2016 arriving on Monday, October 9, some businesses will be closed. Those could select retailers or wholesale clubs. Many people will be wondering if Costco is open on Columbus Day and if so, what their store hours will be. In addition, there’s been recent news regarding the wholesale club observing the Thanksgiving holiday, which has been a recent trend for stores with the annual holiday. Just recently, Syracuse.com reported on stores closing for Thanksgiving. The holiday is considered a big deal for some retailers such as Walmart, Target, and Toys R Us, all of whom have been open to begin their big “Black Friday” sales deals. The report mentions that Costco will be closed along with many other retailers on Thanksgiving Day for 2016. Costco’s official website also mentions this is one of the holidays they close for. The store was closed last month for Labor Day and will also be closed on Christmas. However, Columbus Day is not on their list. For those wondering, Sam’s Club will also be open for the holiday. Their official website lists store hours and all of the calendar holidays. Sam’s will be closed on both Thanksgiving and Christmas, just like Costco. Customers will be happy to know that if they’ve got a day off, they can get their shopping done at either of warehouse clubs. The Costco wholesale website lists Monday hours of 10 a.m. through 8:30 p.m. while Sam’s Club lists similar hours for club members on their website, with an exception. Sam’s Club Plus or Business members can enjoy early shopping hours between 7 a.m. and 10 a.m. Monday through Friday. On Columbus Day, Sam’s Club should be open at most locations. [Image by Scott Olson/Getty Images] While the Costco warehouse website isn’t listing any particular deals exclusive to Monday, their latest coupon book shows a variety of deals available through October 23. These include electronics such as televisions, printers, laptops, phones as well as certain appliances and everyday household needs. It’s unknown if the store will unveil any special deals for the Monday holiday but as of right now it appears they may only offer what’s advertised online or in their latest booklet. Of note, Columbus Day is not a day off for some states. Also, select government offices are closed because it’s considered a federal government holiday. As for post offices, customers will need to check with their local office for information about whether they or opened or closed Monday. In addition, the brutal Hurricane Matthew that recently affected the Atlantic Coast may have also caused disruptions in post office services for some areas. These may include coastal areas in Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina. The Columbus Day holiday has come under scrutiny by various groups. There are some groups or states who are looking to rename the day as “Indigenous Peoples’ Day” or “Native American Day” instead. This is being done in an effort to take away the celebration of explorer Christopher Columbus and instead honor the people and cultures here before his and the Europeans’ arrival. That is said to include Native Americans. According to a recent NPR article, the state of Vermont and city of Phoenix have both joined the list of places to change the holiday’s name and others were already there. Seattle is amongst cities observing Indigenous Peoples’ Day annually. [Image by David Ryder/Getty Images] Seattle and Minneapolis are also amongst cities that have adopted similar laws, but Phoenix is now the largest US city to do so. In Cincinnati, the city council rejected the move to rename the day. However, South Dakota may deserve the most credit for this move to change the holiday, as they were the only state honoring the Native American people and cultures that were here before the Europeans’ arrival. For now, many cities and states are still referring to it as Columbus Day. Stores that are open also look to take advantage of many people having a day off and will offer sales deals. As Fortune mentions in their report about Columbus Day sales, some of the biggest and best deals will come via Walmart, Amazon, and Bed Bath & Beyond stores. Many of these sales will involve clearance items being marked down. However, seasoned shoppers will be able to find those top deals with a bit of research online and checking their nearby stores. Walmart Black Friday 2016 Ad Posted — 34 Pages Of Deals On TVs, Smartphones, Video Games, And Electronics

With Black Friday 2016 now only two weeks away, the most important Black Friday ad of the year has been posted, and it comes from Walmart. The the 34-page Walmart Black Friday 2016 Ad can be seen on BestBlackFriday.com. Disclaimer: The author, Phillip Dengler, is the owner of BestBlackFriday.com, which is referenced in this article. The Inquisitr holds no ownership. This comes after Target’s 40-page Black Friday ad was posted, as reported by The Inquisitr. Out of the major store ads, only Best Buy, Macy’s, and Toys R Us have not been released, but they should appear online within the next few days. Walmart’s Opening Time As Walmart has done over the past few years, they will start their Black Friday sale this year at 6 p.m. on Thanksgiving night. With the exception of Macy’s, this has been par for the course with major retailers, and stores are reluctant to opener earlier. The backlash has been strong against stores opening on Thanksgiving night, and Walmart will not be pushing up their hours this year. Shoppers that cannot wait until 6 p.m. on Thanksgiving can shop on Walmart’s website the entire day. While 12:01 a.m. on Thursday morning is the official start date for their online sale, they actually had a round of doorbusters on Wednesday night last year. Nothing is guaranteed, but there is a strong possibility that Walmart offers at least a few doorbusters on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving this year. Walmart Black Friday 2016 Ad Important Information and Review [Image via Walmart] As seen on the first page, Walmart’s featured television deal is the Philips 55-inch 4K Class Smart TV for $298. The retail price is not listed, so the discount is currently unknown. Regardless, Philips is a solid brand, and the price of $298 is excellent for this television. For comparison purposes, the Target Black Friday 2016 ad, via Savings.com, is offering the Hisense 4K UHD 50″ Smart TV for $249. Hisense is an inferior brand, and Target’s deal is $50 cheaper for five less inches. As seen in the Kohl’s Black Friday 2016 ad, via Savings.com, they are offering the Haier 49-in. 4K Ultra HD TV + $75 Kohl’s Cash for $249.99, which is a discount of $100. The decision should really come down to Walmart and Kohl’s. While Walmart is offering the better television, it is $50 more. Kohl’s is offering a similar television for $50 less, but the brand is questionable. The fact that Kohl’s is also including $75 in Kohl’s Cash could make this the superior offer if you are a frequent Kohl’s shoppers. This gives their TV a net price of only $174.99. This post is being updated with additional information and reviews. Stay tuned. [Featured Image by Kena Betancur/Getty Images]
