The reason why mysteries are interesting is because they have remained mysteries for the longest time possible and there is very little information known about it. It’s this feeling of not knowing the truth is what attracts people more towards it. Keeping in mind the same, here are some unsolved mysteries.
5 Roanoke, the Lost Colony
If you thought Jamestown in Virginia was the first English colony in the New World, then you might have to go a bit back in history. Back in 1587, when a group of English settlers arrived on Roanoke island, what is now present day’s North Carolina, the entire colony was not aware of what awaited them. Their Governor John White went back to England to get some supplies and since he was drafted into a Naval war all of a sudden, he was only able to return to the island about 3 years back. When he did return back, the entire colony had vanished.

There was no proof left behind and the entire area looked like there had been no inhabitants at all. The Governor’s wife, daughter, and granddaughter were also amongst the settlers who vanished. The only thing left was a word inscribed on one of the wooden posts. The word was “CROATOAN,” which was another island in the South of Roanoke. Some believed Native Americans murdered the English colonists or the colony decided to sail back to England on their own and got lost somewhere.

It is an area in Vermont where a bunch of people went missing back in 1945. Middie Rivers was leading a group of hunters when he disappeared all of a sudden. All rescue efforts to find him went in vain. Following his disappearance a year later, another girl named Paula went missing in the same area. These incidents kept on happening and rumors started going around that the area was on a Native American burial ground. No man was ever found.
2 The disappearance of Michael Rockefeller
The son of New York Governor Nelson Rockefeller went missing in the Asmat region of Netherlands and was never found. When his boat hit choppy waters, he started to swim towards the shore and was never found again. Some believed he drowned and some say he must have been captured and eaten by indigenous cannibals.
