And Marriage With Robots Could Be 'Right Around The Corner'

Human romantic and ual relationships – those intricate enigmas that sometimes end in heartbreak or regret. Or, worse, end in massive alimony payments, expensive child support payments, child custody battles, ually transmitted diseases, unwanted pregnancies, or nasty divorce proceedings. While many couples avoid these and manage to have happy, fulfilling relationships and lives, many do not. Sometimes people pick the wrong partner for them, or sometimes they are simply not suited to live with another individual because it requires compromise. So what is the solution for these individuals? A life of being single, dedicated to work or another passion or calling? [Image by Maria Rutherford/Getty Images] Maybe not. Maybe for some the answer is a robot. Yes, a robot – one that can be programmed to respond in particular ways, be they conversational or ual. These are robots one could have with – of any type. The personal physical characteristics of the robot could be special-ordered to fit the likings of the human owner. According to News 18, the robots may be available within months. Lynne Hall, of the University of Sunderland in England, said that with robots could be a fantastic alternative when people want to avoid the snares that human relationships and encounters may bring. “There are a lot of benefits to with robots. Its safe, you never catch any disease, and you can control it. We are somehow fed with moral panic…’It’s disgusting, nobody will ever have with a human again.’” Artificial Intelligence expert David Levy of England agrees. “But people are regularly watching , and they are still having with humans. As with robots becomes more commonplace, we shall come face to face with the very real possibility of marriage to robots.” Levy also stated that robots could have all the personal attributes that many people desire – kindness, attentiveness, humor, and would not be jealous, aggressive, or arrogant, unless that’s what was desired. He also believes that the software used to create personality in these robots could have limitless attributes, and that marriage to a robot will likely be possible by 2050. He says he believes we will see a societal shift to the acceptance of love, , and marriage to robots. [Image by Zomi/Getty Images] According to The Hawaii Reporter, robots could save humanity from human . But does it need saving from human ? Many would argue that yes, it may, as ually transmitted diseases are on the rise in many countries and children being born in poor economic conditions cannot be properly cared for. However, according to News 12, there are significant problems that with robots could cause. One of them is that people who are already married to humans could decide to take on a robot lover, designed to have the measurements few humans achieve, and be willing to do ual things that a human partner may not. Therefore, it’s theoretically possible that human intimacy may be a lost art. The moral dilemma surrounding laws that may permit marriage to a robot in the future may be hotly debated, and psychologists have concerns about lost social norms such as the ability to feel empathy, to learn compromise – because there will be no need to. A robot companion could theoretically be happily tucked into a closet for days. But many experts say that whether we like it or not, it is coming. Adrian Cheok, computing professor at City University London and director of the Mixed Reality Lab in Singapore, says the prediction of marriage to robots is accurate, according to Acculturated. “People assume that everyone can get married, have , fall in love. But actually many don’t. A lot of human marriages are very unhappy. Compared to a bad marriage, a robot will be better than a human. That might seem outrageous because it’s only 35 years away. But 35 years ago people thought homoual marriage was outrageous.” [Featured Image by Zomi/Getty Images]

New Year's Resolution: 7 Things You Must Add On Your List

As the New Year approaches, we all must decide what do we expect from this upcoming year, what are the things we hope to accomplish, and things we should promise ourselves to better our lives. Basically, what are the Top 7 things that should be on your New Year’s resolution? 1. Take a Risk It is so easy to live in your comfort zone and stay within your borders, but where is the fun in that? What is even more important, is where your personal progress in it? Challenge yourself and discover new opportunities and strength within your character. Do something you’ve always been afraid to do. Learn how to snowboard, take a karate class, move to a different city or even get a tattoo. 2. Complain Less When you complain you bring negative emotions and thoughts in your life and make it darker than it actually is. There is no shame in expressing your feelings and concerns, but did you know that according to The New York Times on average during a conversation people complain about once every minute? Don’t you think it’s a little bit too much? By eliminating this part of your conversations or at least reducing it, you will live a brighter and happier life. So, wouldn’t this be a good thing to add to your New Year’s resolution? Photo by AzmanL/iStock 3. Compliment more It feels good not only when you receive a compliment, but also when you give one. We often think what we like around us – what a tasty coffee your barista just made, what a nice jacket that lady has, or how pleasant your server was. Don’t be afraid to tell those things out loud and make someone happy. They will pay you back with a wave of positivity that will make your day better! 4. Learn to Love Those Whom You Envy Very useful thing to add to your New Year’s resolution. Turn your envy into admiration and release your life from negative emotions. It would be the first step to start loving yourself. Instead of thinking “what a nice pair of shoes that women has, she doesn’t deserve them”, think about “what a great taste she has and how lucky she is to have those”. By letting kind thoughts in your heart, you will become a more positive person. 5. Go to Sleep Earlier In this upcoming New Year try not only better your inner spirit but also your body. Your productivity and general well-being will improve if you learn how to go to sleep earlier. From 11 p.m. to 3 a.m. our body is programmed for recovering from all the damage you acquired during the day. So, sleeping during this time will benefit you much more than during any other time. Trust me, it will make you work better, feel better, and look better. Photo by SolisImages/iStock 6. Cook at Home More Cooking at home and eating home-made meals will definitely make you healthier and will let you lose those several unwanted pounds you couldn’t lose this year. Moreover, it’s not only healthy but fun! Invite your friends over and cook your meal together, so you can have a party. Or plan to have your significant other come around and have a romantic date with homecooked dinner. 7. Travel More The last but not the least is to travel more! I know, you’ve read thousands of articles which advise you the same thing. I will do the same, for one simple reason – it works! You might think it costs a lot, well it’s not true. Start small – visit a town nearby, where you’ve always wanted to go, but didn’t have the time. Or go visit your friends in a different state, I’m sure they would love to host you for a few days. If all your friends live near you, there are many different websites which can help you stay, even in a different country for free or for very cheap (Couchsurfing, Airbnb). So, don’t be afraid and explore the world! I wish everyone a very Happy New Year and I hope that whatever you will put on your New Year’s Resolution list becomes true! New Year's Resolution Tips: Experts Tell How To Pick And Stick To Your Resolutions In 2017

New Year’s resolutions tend to have a terrible conversion rate beyond the first few weeks in January, but experts have some tips for selecting the best resolutions for 2017 — and for keeping them. The numbers around New Year’s resolutions are pretty grim. CBS News reported that 44 percent of people will make a resolution to better themselves in the new coming year, but only a small percentage of those will actually keep it — generally between 5 and 8 percent. Nicole Gravanga, a doctor of neuroscience, told Medical Daily that the very nature of New Year’s resolutions can be difficult. People who resolve to lose weight, for example, may run into resistance immediately as they put on unfamiliar workout clothes and enter an uncomfortable setting like a gym — and then have to deal with some pain and discomfort from working out for the first time in a long time. People making a New Year’s resolution to lose weight may really just want to find a way to be more comfortable within their own skin, Gravanga noted. “To make significant changes in your life, you are going to have to get to the bottom of what you really mean when you say you want to get fit, spend more time with your family, or get a better job. What do those things mean to you?” Gravanga wrote a step-by-step process of selecting the best New Year’s resolution that fits best with your desire. It starts with writing down or saying aloud what you want to change, then write what it means to have that part of your life changed. The next step is to think about your “relationship to that meaning,” like your relationship to comfort if the root of our resolution to lose weight comes in your discomfort in your own body. Once you’ve gotten to the root of what makes you want to change, you can make arguments for or against the idea in your mind. “Let yourself make arguments. When you find yourself rationalizing, waving your hands, and defending your past choices, you are stepping into the kind of fertile ground that allows you to make a change. Go ahead. Keep trying to talk yourself out of it. Denial is a legitimate step in the process.” The final step comes in addressing the “old sorrows, disappointments, and anger” that are attached to that argument, addressing and resolving the hangups that can keep you from reaching your goals. And after you’ve made a New Year’s resolution, it can be difficult to stay motivated through setbacks and denial. Stephanie Mansour of WGN noted that it’s best to give yourself some rewards along the way to keep moving toward the goal. “Reward yourself every time you hit a small goal,” she wrote. “Make your resolutions in bite size chunks rather than as big as a meal. Reward yourself with healthy things, like a massage or a more expensive gourmet salad (instead of making one at home).” My New Year’s resolution is to delete Twitter from my phone https://t.co/6q7q9Tg7pQ by harrisonweber — Ajay Mehra (@tech_guru101) January 1, 2017 And Mansour added another tip for New Year’s resolutions — be willing to change. While your initial goal may be going to the gym three times a week, there could ultimately be different or more effective ways to reach a weigh loss goal. “Be willing to course correct. If all else fails, look at the methods you’re using,” she wrote. “Weight loss is not once size fits all, and neither is health and fitness. Taking an individualized approach to your goals will make you even more successful because you’ll recognize that what works for someone else may not work for you, and you won’t feel like a failure and dejected.” Happy 2017, booklovers! This is the best New Year’s resolution we can possibly think of… pic.twitter.com/d4kmUxRP0S — Baileys Prize (@BaileysPrize) January 1, 2017 For those who need a bit more help picking their New Year’s resolution or sticking to it, NBC News has a list of the most popular resolutions every year. Among the most popular picks — getting healthier, learning new hobbies, and getting organized at home and work. [Featured Image by China Photos/Getty Images]
