Winds Of Winter Release Date Confirmed For January 2017? Neil Gaiman to Help with GRRM’s Writer’s Block?

If it’s not 2016 then, most probably Winds of Winter by George R.R. Martin (GRRM) will arrive in 2017. Let’s face it, if a writer has so much on his mind and his schedule, then there’s a good chance that an unfinished novel in his side will also sit in time. According to Cross Map, despite rumors that GRRM has sought the help from fellow novelist Neil Gaiman (American Gods, Sandman, Star Dust) to juggle him out of a supposed writer’s block that has delayed the novel launch, he’s still unsure when the novel will be ready. Nothing is confirmed, with only rumors swirling because of a recent spotting of Gaiman in GRRM’s neighborhood.

When HBO first announced that the latest season of the Game of Thrones TV series will be ready by April 24 2016, back then the author implied that he wanted Winds of Winter to come out before that; that didn’t happen. Now, in his latest interview he said “Maybe I’m being overly optimistic about how quickly I can finish. But I canceled two convention appearances, I’m turning down a lot more interview-anything I can do to clear my decks and get this done.”

In a previous report by the Latin Post in January, GRRM has also expressed his editor’s frustration on the pending novel. During that time, he was more worried about finishing the book in terms of chapters to write and the gruelling work of re writing what’s already been done. By March this year, GRRM’s editors expected the manuscript to be available already.

He also cited different distractions that hinder the process of the novel saying “You can blame my travels or my blog posts or the distractions of other objects and the Cocteau. You can also blame my age, but if truth be told, sometimes the writing goes well and sometimes it doesn’t.” With few details on the development of Winds of Winter it could be during the later part of 2016 or early 2017 that the book will eventually get published.
