‘Married at First Sight’: TV’s Craziest Social Experiment

Eight brave singles will step into the no man’s land of relationships… Married at First Sight! Four pairs of couples will plight their troth even before they say “hello.” Welcome to Australian TV’s extreme social experiment. Marriage Before Love? Channel 9 has just displayed the new trailer for this bold and daring show. Will its second series prove more controversial than the first? Australian News Network reports that Married at First Sight promises to be “the most dramatic series” yet.  Brides and grooms will get married before they know each other? How does that work out?Like us on Facebook Not very well, if the teaser trailer is anything to go by. One bride broke down in tears while another was heard saying “I don’t like him at all!” Can this be a foundation for a loving, caring and stable relationship? No, but it can certainly serve up doses of drama and chaos which will entertain the viewer no end. And leave us all wondering where the couples are really headed. Not So Happily Ever After! ‘Farmer Wants a Wife’ First series of the Married at First Sight showed “mixed results” where couples were matched by science, and married on the spot only to separate later. So, what does the relationship expert say? Channel 9 marriage experts defend themselves by saying they have used neuroscience and psychology to create the perfect match. Needless to say, it is hard to find, reports ANN. Most psychologists opine that love is an important ingredient of a marriage. Love allows couples to forgive each other and move on within the relationship. Love also serves as a foundation for patience and understanding. To quote Anakin Skywalker (not the best role model though) in Star Wars, compassion is the “highest form of love.” Can a loveless marriage work? Can science replace love? Or predict it through an equation? Either which way, the viewers are set to find out. However, the resident ologist, spiritual adviser and psychologist of the previous series was reportedly announcing quick exits. It remains to be seen whether the couple (and indeed the viewers) will do so too. Photo Sources:  Flickr, Pedro Ribiero Simoes/Flickr

Plastic-Eating Bacteria And Pollution: Discovery Brings A Ray Of Hope

Plastic-eating bacteria? Yes, that is what scientists from Japan have discovered – a strain that could be a solution to all the plastic mess around! The aptly named plastic-eating bacteria have the ability to completely breakdown the most common form of plastic – Polyethylene terephthalate (PET). If this is true and can be converted into a viable means, one of the biggest pollutant can be wiped out easily from this earth’s surface. The findings of the discovery say,  “Ideonella sakaiensis breaks down the plastic by using two enzymes to hydrolyze PET and a primary reaction intermediate, eventually yielding basic building blocks for growth.” Plastic-eating bacteria could provide solution? As per certain estimates, the year 2050 would see more plastic in the oceans than there would be fish. The fact that most of the plastic does not get recycled and ends up in the landfills or in the water bodies has been a major cause for concern in recent times.Like us on Facebook Pixabay Air Pollution A Bigger Threat Than HIV AIDS Plastic is one of the major pollutants facing the world today and we have not been able to reduce the turnout waste despite all efforts. Why is plastic so bad? Here are a few reasons: Due to its long life and non-biodegradable nature plastic remains on this earth for many years. Animals – both on land and in water – tend to feed on the bright pieces of the debris left by humans. Many animals die simply because the plastic in their gut chokes the body systems. Besides, the chemicals that go in making the colourful plastics are extremely harmful and have been proved to be carcinogenic and toxic to the life on earth. These toxins enter our food chain and have been adding to the increasing number of diseases and cancers. Sadly, our oceans are becoming the final landing ground for all the plastic waste making the planet less-liveable every year. The plastic-eating bacteria could thus be a blessing for not only humans but all the animals surviving on this planet. Photo: Pixabay, Pixabay
