iOS 9.3 update made iPad Pro a standalone device with accessory updates

Apple rolled out the beta version of iOS 9.3 on Wednesday. The new version provides the iPad users to update the firmware of accessories and devices through Smart Connector. The iPad Pro’s Smart Connector has replaced the old practice of plugging the device into a Mac.

In a tweet, developer Stefan Wolfrum said that through iPad pro’s software users can update the firmware on his Logitech Create keyboard, notes MacRumors. This feature makes the 12.9-inch iPad Pro a device that will replace laptops, as said by Apple’s CEO Tim Cook earlier this week on the company’s earnings, as reported by ZDNet.

“Yes, the iPad Pro is a replacement for a notebook or a desktop for many, many people. They will start using it and conclude they no longer need to use anything else, other than their phones,” Tim Cook said.

However, it is unclear whether the accessory firmware update was included in the iOS 9.3 software or just pinged a server to the OS for downloading the update before installing it.

Apple claims that the Smart Connector has created “another dimension” to the iPad experience. The new update has brought content creation tools which would help users to leave the old practice or the laptop and move to a larger tablet, notes ZDNet.

Moreover, the new firmware update includes the accessory updating ability which allows the users to set up their iPads, along with the facility to update iOS software, apps, and now accessories, unplugged to a Mac.

Currently, the beta version of iOS 9.3 is available for registered developers via Apple Developer Center. Although the release date is not confirmed, it is speculated that a Night Shift mode will be included to change the screen brightness of the devices. Apple’s existing apps will also be updated including Apple News, CarPlay, Notes, Health and more.

Jailbreak versions of iOS 9.2.1 still delayed

Apple was expected to release the public version of the iOS 9.3 beta 2 to beta testers last Friday, however, till now no news has been updated yet.

TaiG and Pangu are known to release the Jailbreak versions of iOS and, Apple has been working incessantly to discourage iOS hackers to develop jailbreak tools by patching exploits in the past. Even though, against these odd, both hackers were successful in finding loops in the system and crack the mobile software. This would help the users to allow customizing their devices as they desire.

Rumor has it that in order to discourage the Apple from developing a un-hackable operating system, the hackers decided to release the Jailbreak version of  iOS 9.2.1 after the launch of iOS 9.3. This would help to keep the ideas within them and save them from implementing the exploits in the new version by Apple.

It is also been speculated that PP, Pangu’s partner may have the tool but there are no details were released yet. It is very unlikely that the jailbreak community would let go of the system easily.

After the release of iOS 9 in October, the company has rolled out the updates and fixed the bugs in five different important updates. iOS 9.0.1 version had a flaw which caused the slide to upgrade screen to freeze while updating from earlier iOS versions. The later update fixed the bug, notes Inquisitr.

Similarly, Apple rolled out the iOS 9.0.2 on September 30, 2015, which fixed the lock screen bypass issue. While the December update to iOS 9.2 offered some new languages support such as the Arabic language along with USB Camera adapter which enables the iPhone owners to send their photos to any other Apple device without having to sync forcibly to a computer first.

The latest update, iOS 9.2.1 was rolled out to the public on Jan. 19.

WhatsApp Latest Update: Discover New Interesting Features

The WhatsApp application team has been very consistent in updating the popular messaging app, but recent updates have been nothing but some minor quick fixes on bugs. But now, according to First Post, the most recent patch could be the culmination of months and years of development as users may finally see some new features on the messaging app.

Take note that while the new features are only available for WhatsApp iOS, they may eventually come to other operating systems in the future. According to the report, the new “Call Back” feature allows the user to easily see a missed call notification on the phone’s homepage, with an accompanying call back button for easy access. That feature alone shows a lot of time saving process, with not more than a couple of taps needed and you’re ready to call the person back.

Another WhatsApp Update is the voicemail part, wherein users can use the new “record voicemail” and “send voicemail” button feature of the app. The report says it is very useful when trying to send a voice mail during a current call.

The last, but surely one of the most important new features on the WhatsApp iOS update, is the ability of the user to convert files to ZIP; compressing the files, thus making it faster to send, at the same time allowing the phone storage to save some space for other files.

We can say that this month has been WhatsApp’s crowning moment as it also covered one of its most sought concerns in its latest WhatsApp update and that’s the end-to-end encryption of its services. The end-to-end encryption allows the user to get the maximum security they want as the feature disallows anyone from keeping a record of any type of file sent to the recipient. Meaning, even WhatsApp will not be able to save these messages and files on their database.

Google’s Project Fi Now Open to Public, Ditches Invite-Only System

People living in the United States can now avail of Google’s mobile network, Project Fi, as it has already waived its invite-only system, beginning Monday.

Alphabet’s wireless service that was launched on April allows clients to pay only for the Internet data they consumed instead of a bulk plan. The service is also equipped with features that are helpful to individuals including a Wi-Fi assistant, which helps the device connect when Wi-Fi is detected; a data tracker that monitors how much data have been consumed; SIM cards to make the service data plan available on other devices including tablets; round the clock customer service; and capability to use the service overseas at the same price.

“We launched Project Fi as an invitation-only Early Access program to make sure we could deliver the best quality of service to our first customers,” Simon Arscott, product manager of Project Fi, wrote in a blog post. “Today, we’re excited to be exiting our invitation-only mode and opening up Project Fi so that people across the U.S. can now sign up for service without having to wait in-line for an invite.”

Google’s Project Fi is only compatible with Nexus devices as of now, including the Nexus 6, 6P and 5X. It also needs a special SIM card to support multiple cellular networks connection. It further revealed that the mobile phone service can connect to one of two 4G LTE networks or to Wi-Fi, automatically choosing the best connection and switch to another service without experiencing any interruptions, according to Google as cited by IBN Live.

Project Fi charges a monthly subscription rate of $20 for unlimited domestic calls and unlimited domestic and international text messaging. The company reveals that its coverage is available in over 100 nations.

Google, on the other hand, has slashed Nexus 5X’s market value to $199 to attract more people to avail of Project Fi. Moreover, Fortune reports that the company is also teaming up with Sprint and T-Mobile to cater dual coverage, swapping from the carrier to Project Fi, or vice versa, whichever offers the best coverage as of the moment.

iOS 9.3 Jailbreak Release Update: Developers Waiting For iOS 9.3.2 Beta 3?

If you are antsy for the iOS 9.3 jailbreak from teams like TaiG and Pangu, you may have to wait just a little longer. Rumor has it that it’s going to be released in June. This hold-up is caused by the fact that iOS 9.3.2 is still in beta phase. As reported by MacRumors, this update was released in early April for developers and beta testers. This was just after a week of the public release of iOS 9.3.1, which was a buggy update to the buggy 9.3.

According to Christian Today, this was a ‘surprise’ update and that this drew speculation of it being just a ploy to keep iOS 9 jailbreak free until the release of iOS 10. That is plausible, but it may not be the main reason as to why. Apple could just be fixing bugs.

iOS 9.3.2 is rumored to be the last update in the whole series of iOS 9 updates. It is the great solution to all past issues. So, jailbreaking teams would likely opt to jailbreak this version than waste time on inferior ones. So waiting on the 9.3.2 makes sense for them. And well, for iPhone users too.

iOS 9.3 is so buggy that jailbreaking it might lead to bigger security risks. iOS 9.3.1 has a partial jailbreak available on Pangu. However, it still has some issues hence the need for another “minor” update. Neurogadget reported that iOS 9.3.2 is said to have conquered the “White Screen of Death” – something that usually happens when users play games with Game Integration turned on at the same time. In addition, this update will bring back two other functions as well – Low Power Mode and Night Shift.

This is said to be the last iOS update before the unveiling of iOS 10 and other Apple products, such as the MacBook Pro 2016, the latest OS X version and whatever the company has up its sleeves. This unveiling is said to happen in the Worldwide Developers’ Conference (WWDC). This is an event that will also be in June.

The update also introduced a feature that would greatly improve the battery life – better screen dimming. The feature makes the wearable more intelligent as it can sense a user’s hand motion. The device screen would go dark instantly if the user drops his wrists after looking at it. The mode can also be called as ambient mode, which works on enabling the always-on feature.

With the update, the device comprehends a user’s wrist movements and gestures, which allows the users to navigate the device hands-free.The same gestures can be used to open apps on the watch face and enter settings.

The Lenovo-owned Motorola has also introduced Moto Body Running feature, which records your time, pace, distance and heart rate during indoor runs in Moto 360 (Gen 2). The app is configured to sync with Under Armour Record, Strava, Fitbit and MayMyRun.
