Anna Meredith

Anna Elizabeth Burson Meredith, 77, of Idabel, Okla., died Thursday, Oct. 11, 2007, in McCurtain Memorial Hospital.
She was born Feb. 14, 1930, in Memphis, Tenn. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ. Her life was devoted to her children and grandchildren.
Mrs. Meredith was preceded in death by her husband, Johnnie M. Meredith, on April 15, 1982, and one grandson, Glen Bowline.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Johnnie and Sonia Meredith of Haworth, Okla.; three daughters and sons-in-law, Lorene and Butch Gardner of Cleveland, Texas, Linda and Donald Dorey of Idabel, Okla. and Lisa Meredith and her life-long partner, Mellisa Watts of Spencerville, Okla.; her brother-in-law, Bob Crain of Midwest City, Okla.; nine grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Meredith were held on Saturday, Oct. 13, at 10 a.m., in the Pauley Cemetery, with Darrell “Cy” Davis officiating.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home, of DeQueen.
 
“Bullet” Ashley

F. Dwayne “Bullet” Ashley, 42, of Haworth, Okla., died Sunday, Oct. 14, 2007, in Foreman.
He was born to Coy and Linda Sue Lockeby Ashley at Murfreesboro, Ark., on Aug. 16, 1965.
He was a retired log truck driver who enjoyed fishing and working on CB radios.
He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Linda Sue Kegley and George Rebik of Shinewell, Okla.; his father, Coy Boyd Ashley of Ohio; three brothers, Randy Ashley of Shinewell, Robert Kegley and Donita of Haworth, Okla., and Cecil Kegley and Kerri of Redland, Okla.; three sisters, Nita Cleghorn and Leslie of Redwater, Texas, Tracy Robinson and Danny of Horatio, and Tina Kegley of Shinewell, Okla.; and a number of other relatives.
Graveside funeral services for Mr. Ashley were held on Wednesday, Oct. 17, at 10 a.m. in Blackland Cemetery.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, of DeQueen.

 
David Smith

David Smith, 66, of Ashdown, Ark., died Sunday, Oct. 14, 2007, in Ashdown.
He was born Jan. 23, 1941, in Texarkana, Ark.
Mr. Smith was a U.S. Army veteran of the war in Vietnam, a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and a member of the American Legion in Ashdown. He was a Baptist.
He was preceded in death by one son, David Smith Jr.
Mr. Smith is survived by his mother, Katherine Richards of Texarkana, Texas; his wife, Imogene Smith of Ashdown; two sons, Charles Lewis of Texarkana, Texas and Dennis Smith of Ashdown; two daughters, Gennen Brizendine of Ashdown and Rosa Lee Smith of California; two brothers, Ben L. Smith of Texarkana, Ark., and R.C. Smith of Cass City, Mich.; one sister, Nancy Hubbard of Hooks, Texas; 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Graveside funeral services will be held on Thursday, Oct. 18, at 10 a.m. in Ashdown Memorial Gardens, with Rev. Randy Shepherd officiating.
